Chemical Project Report On Production of LPG From Natural Gas

In an oil & gas industry processes are divided into upstream, midstream and downstream process. The upstream oil sector is a term commonly used to refer to the searching for and the recovery and production of crude oil and natural gas. The upstream process consists of reservoir engineering, wellhead engineering, and oil production plant. A reservoir could be an oil well or gas field depending upon the ratio of oil and gas commonly termed as GOR (Gas to Oil ratio).However, natural gas found at the wellhead, although still composed primarily of methane, is by no means as pure. Raw natural gas comes from three types of wells: oil wells, gas wells, and condensate wells.

Gas wells typically produce raw natural gas by itself, while condensate wells produce free natural gas along with a semi-liquid hydrocarbon condensate. Whatever the source of the natural gas, once separated from crude oil (if present) it commonly exists in mixtures with other hydrocarbons principally ethane, propane, butane, and pentanes.

In addition, the raw natural gas contains water vapor, hydrogen sulfide (H2S), carbon dioxide CO2, helium, nitrogen, and other compounds. Natural gases containing H2S are known as Sour gases. Natural gases free from H2S is known as sweet gases. Natural gases containing CO2, H2S & COS are termed as acid gases, as they form acidic solution in Presence of water.

To provide impactful design and process description to produce transportation fuels (LPG) from natural gas via cryogenic Process for M/s.Aroma Petrochemicals Pvt. Ltd for production of about 2.816 lac MTPA.

The decision to build a cryogenic plant is still fraught with risk because it has to be based on the perceived future price and availability of Natural gas and on local politics. Moreover, as per reduction in Natural gas resources, this cryogenic process is considered as a benchmark process for the production of LPG which has so many uses in our daily life span. Therefore here in this project, we will try to overcome these problems and produce LPG of about 2.816 lac million metric ton per annum.
